Life in the Village of Golf centers on golf and privacy. Its small population and limited inventory make it one of the more exclusive addresses in the county.
The village is close to Interstate 95 and Woolbright Road, with Boynton Beach and Delray Beach shopping, dining, and beaches nearby.
Public schools serving Golf are part of the School District of Palm Beach County, and the area is also served by private schools. School assignments are based on address and can change, so confirm boundaries directly with the School District of Palm Beach County before making a purchase decision.
Homes are primarily single-family residences on large lots, many with golf course views. Inventory is very limited, and membership and community requirements should be reviewed carefully before purchase.
The community is gated, and its streets wind among mature trees and fairways.
Review the HOA, condominium, or club documents, budget, and fees carefully before you make an offer, and ask whether any special assessments are planned. If you are buying a condominium, ask for recent milestone inspection reports and the structural integrity reserve study, which Florida law requires for many condominium buildings three stories or taller, since they can affect future assessments.
Look up the property's flood zone on FEMA's Flood Map Service Center and get homeowners and flood insurance quotes early. Insurance can significantly affect your monthly cost, and a lender may require flood insurance depending on the zone.
Ask the seller for the roof's age and a wind mitigation inspection report. Florida requires insurers to offer discounts for qualifying wind-resistant features, such as impact-rated windows or shutters and stronger roof attachments, so these features can lower your premium. You can look up the property's hurricane evacuation zone through Palm Beach County Emergency Management.
If the home will be your primary residence, apply for Florida's homestead exemption with the Palm Beach County Property Appraiser, generally by March 1 of the year after you purchase. Once a home is homesteaded, Florida's Save Our Homes provision limits yearly increases in its assessed value to 3% or the change in the Consumer Price Index, whichever is lower.
