These communities have a golf course or a country club, based on how their listings describe them on the MLS. "Country club" means the listings also show a clubhouse.
In some communities golf membership is mandatory and included in, or billed with, the home. In others it is optional, by invitation or sold separately, and it may be equity (you own a share of the club) or non-equity. Ask for the club's current membership documents and fee schedule before you sign.
Typical costs can include the association fee, club dues, a food and beverage minimum and capital contributions. Ask whether any initiation fee is charged at purchase and whether part of it is refunded when you sell.
For homes in a homeowners association, Section 720.401, Florida Statutes requires a disclosure summary before the buyer signs the contract. If it is not given first, the buyer can cancel within 3 days after receiving it or before closing, whichever comes first.
Golf course frontage brings views and also passing golfers. Walk the lot during play and check for any easement along the course.
It depends on the community. Some require membership with the home and some do not. We confirm the rules for each community you consider.
